Monocrystalline Solar Panels

When choosing solar panels mono-crystalline (single-crystal Si or mono-Si) solar panels are currently the most efficient type of silicon solar cells and are easily available on the commercial market. In its simplest form, solar panels convert sunlight into electric current, and the more pure the materials used in the panel, the more efficient this conversion becomes.

The high silicon purity does make for a more expensive solar panel, which scares people aware from purchasing, but with higher efficiency, you will be able to purchase less panels for the same electrical output. Regardless of the construction of the panels material, the maximum predicted efficiency rating for solar conversion is appropriately 30%.

While this number may seem low, the conversion of sunlight into electrical power is not a single step process and efficiency of any conversion is lost during each step. These ingots are sliced into flat thin pieces, with the addition of phosphorus, a solar cell is born.
